Description:
A miniature movie theater that is set within a museum vitrine, an audience of mounted houseflies are watching a film. The movie is a stop-motion animation that depicts five glass jars which each contain a different preserved marine species. These specimens were borrowed from the Tromsø Natural History Museum which holds a wide collection of specimens gathered from the Arctic region. These specimens, which were all collected in the Arctic Sea, were taken from the museum where they currently reside on a trip back home to the place from where they were once collected. Through and behind the glass jars you see the Arctic environment passing by as the ship sails forward. The common houseflies [Lat. Musca Domestica] are spectators to their cousin’s nostalgic trip back home.
